Some events can be so intense that the memory of them still evokes strong emotions. If this is holding you back or hindering you, it’s good to know that you can do something about it.

As an EMDR practitioner, I help adults release unprocessed memories and emotions. Afterwards, you will feel free and self-confident again.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a method that helps you reprocess an event correctly. In short, we do this by recalling the memory while simultaneously distracting the brain, using sounds and eye movements. This treatment reduces the emotional and physical reactions associated with the memory. As a result, you can view the memory from a different perspective, which brings peace and space.

SIGNS OF UNPROCESSED MEMORIES WITH STRONG EMOTIONAL CHARGE:

  • Reliving the event, intrusive images
  • Startle responses (day and night)
  • Avoiding similar situations
  • Concentration problems
  • Anxiety, panic, excessive worry
  • Increased alertness, stress
  • Unexplained physical complaints
  • Headaches or stomachaches
  • Low self-esteem

PROVEN RESULTS IN MY PRACTISE:

  • Poor academic performance and negative self-image
  • Rejection and disapproval (e.g., bullying or strict parents)
  • Phobic reactions (e.g., fear of lifts)
  • Involvement in an accident, injury, or traumatic childbirth
  • Loss (your job, self-confidence, or a loved one)

EXAMPLES:

1. A female freelancer gave a pitch for a tender and faced harsh criticism, which triggered strong emotions and aversion. During our sessions, it became clear that a childhood rejection still had a significant impact. She recognised her tendency to over-adapt to others. EMDR gave her the space to chart her own course and assert herself more confidently in professional relationships.

2. A manager with burnout still felt low in energy and unstable after nine months. Through treatment, they processed old experiences, making the approval of others less important and increasing trust in her own judgement.

3. An entrepreneur wanted to grow her business but was stuck. It turned out to be due to underlying insecurity about her own worth. This made it difficult to charge for her services, and her business wasn’t growing. After EMDR, she gained more confidence, took more initiative, and found it natural to invoice for her services and invest in her business.

4. A professional’s fear of elevators caused unnecessary stress before client visits. After a EMDR session, elevators were still not his favourite place, but stepping into one became more normal, and the idea no longer causes stress before a meeting.
